Wedding Venue
The new village Halls at Etchingham offer a superb and flexible venue for weddings and parties.
They lie at the heart of Etchingham, a village which has some special advantages:· For weddings, our village can offer one of the finest churches in East Sussex. The Assumption of Blessed Mary and St Nicholas is an ancient village church, but is unusually large (seating up to 180). It is architecturally exceptionally handsome, being, according to Pevsner, “a most rewarding complete C14 job”, entirely built between about 1363 and 1388. Even the south porch of silvery weathered timber, which looks enchanting decorated with flowers, is from the same century.
Etchingham has excellent mainline railway connections to London (1hr 15 mins from Charing Cross). A village wedding can be a logistical nightmare, if the host has to provide taxis ferrying guests from the station to the church, and from the church to the reception. In Etchingham, the Church is next door to the station, and the village Halls are only 10 minutes walk up the High Streeet.
The award-winning Bistro in the station, in the old Victorian railway station-house, can provide parking by the church, and good food for pre-wedding lunches. www.bistroatthestation.co.uk
Our village Halls offer an inclusive wedding package, which is truly exceptional value:·
The offer includes two Halls, a kitchen, the spacious linking foyer, and the Market Square. These interlinking spaces can obviously be used in many ways: a drinks reception in the small hall could be followed by dinner for up to 120 seated guests in the larger one; or dinner in one could be followed by a dance in the other, and there is ample space for a bar between in the foyer.
On a warm summer evening guests can spill out into the paved tree-lined area known as the Market Square – where one could install jugglers and roving magicians, brass bands, a hog-roast, troubadours, an oyster bar, arches of flowers, or whatever is upon your dream wedding list…·
The price of our package includes the hire of 15 round tables, 120 gold banqueting chairs, linen tablecloths, glasses and complete place settings for 120 guests.· A quality sound system is available for speeches, and a 64 inch LED screen is available for visual displays. Our well-equipped community kitchen includes a commercial dishwasher with a 4 minute cycle, as well as a capacious new oven and fridge-freezer.· Our alcohol licence covers both halls and the adjoining Market Square·
Hire of both halls, the community kitchen, the foyer and the paved square from 6pm Friday to 1pm Sunday is only £550 for local residents, or £650 for others.
